The engine was given to Dave Jack who used the original block with a new lead free GT twin plug head to build a high performance and superbly reliable power unit. The GT engines have twelve spark plugs, two distributors and triple Weber carburettors giving about 30 extra horsepower over a standard engine.
The temptation to build a bigger 4.2 or 4.7 engine was resisted for the sake of originality.

A new billeted and balanced crankshaft and bearings were fitted.

The standard head was discarded and lead free twin GT plug head was obtained with modified ports hand finished to obtain required flow characteristics.

Almost 340 bhp and over 300 ftlb of torque is on tap from a standard 3.8 litre engine - a tribute to the black art of engine tuning carried out by Aston Engineering.
